Club membership encompasses a diverse mob with musical, professional, business and trade backgrounds. Collectively there's a considerable array of valuable attributes and talent amongst this dedicated bunch who have driven the club since its inception by providing genuine blues music as entertainment and art for the local community to participate in and enjoy.  Member musicians benefit from exposure and contacts leading to paid gigs, gatherings and collaborations with like souls. The rest of us just get a good dose of great blues on a regular basis.

Committee and sub-committee members work diligently towards achieving club goals. The club has taken Blues to regular gig venues over recent years in both city and rural pubs. You will come across many faces on our website and each one has made a contribution to the blues club in some way.

Other long term goals are to nurture budding talent and cultivate the opportunity to host major events, such as a blues festival. As a dry season venue, Darwin has the capacity to attract interstate musicians and fans to visit and enjoy the delights on offer in our place in the sun. Tourism and hospitality are major economic anchors in this part of the world and entertainment and music are a major aspect of our culture. Darwin Blues is well and truly on the map in Darwin.

The DB&RCi provides a stage for blues musicians and supporters to meet on a regular basis and  welcomes new members and volunteers with open arms.  We'd love to hear from anyone interested in being involved with the regular events or putting their two bobs worth in on any of the committee's. Some of the sub-committees that spring to mind include finance & fundraising, merchandise, PR and marketing, memberships, web content and management, musical direction, gig coordination and special events. It's a great way to be involved in the weekly management of club events and gigs as well as meeting members and friends of the Darwin Blues & Roots Club Inc.

As founding member Chris Canning wrote "We're drawn to Blues, like a moth to a flame, the moment we hear the first few bars of a tune. There is a special feeling and air of mystique about the Blues - it is 'alive' and tells of life and its people, its tragedies, love, feelings and everyday happenings." You sure do know you're alive when you got the blues or you're listening to the blues.

Since becoming incorporated in mid 2007 the club has met the requirements of the Associations Act in terms of being a recognised body with statutory obligations.
